“When I was very young, I dreamed of having a home with a nice, big swimming pool,” says entrepreneur Priscilla Mendoza. “And now I do!” Looking out from one window of her three-bedroom, bi-level unit at DMCI Homes’s East Ortigas Mansions—which has a view of the community’s clear blue rectangular pool and the clubhouse—Priscilla, now a mother of two, wears the beaming and gleeful expression of a little girl whose big dream has just come true.

A little over a year ago, Priscilla was on the market for a city home that would give her and her children greater mobility within the city. She had espied the façade of East Ortigas Mansions from the street, but it was the quiet, resort-like setup of the community’s interior that charmed her into making an inquiry for a unit. A year after her accidental discovery, she’s a proud and happy member of the community who has embraced homeownership with gusto. “I had my brother, who is a contractor, fix up the place,” she says, “while I picked out everything—from the furnishings down to the light switches.” She says that the exercise of putting together her home, a cozy blend of warm wood, white walls and furniture dressed in green fabric, has allowed her to express her personality.

“The great thing about living here,” she says, “is that now everything is so near—my kids’ schools, the mall, my place of work. And yet, in our home, it’s nice and quiet, we can go out and take a dip in the pool anytime or hang out in the clubhouse. It feels like we’re not in the city at all.”

And the best part about her new home, Priscilla adds, is the property management office, which has been a big help during the moving in process, and even later. “They’re very helpful and supportive,” she says, “and they’ve made us feel at home right from the beginning.”
