Over 100 DMCI Homes employees recently joined EdukBahagian, an initiative by Angat Kabataan Valenzuela, to support the education and development of youth in Valenzuela City.

The initiative, held in collaboration with the Angat Bayanihan Volunteer Network and inspired by the principles of the non-government organization Angat Buhay, provided much-needed educational and mentoring support to elementary and high school students in Valenzuela City.

To get ready for the activity, DMCI Homes’ Design & Engineering team hosted an orientation session for volunteers at the DMCI Homes Corporate Center in Makati City last November 12, 2024.

This session prepared employees for their deployment as educators and mentors last November 30, 2024, benefiting 210 students from Grades 2 to 6 at Caruhatan East Elementary School in Brgy. Karuhatan.

Beyond mentorship, the initiative also featured a kit assembly ceremony, where DMCI Homes employees packed educational and hygiene kits. These kits included essential school supplies to aid students in their studies and hygiene products to promote health and well-being.

The activity fostered a spirit of unity and purpose among volunteers, reflecting DMCI Homes’ dedication to social responsibility through its Kaakbay sa Edukasyon Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

“For me, sobrang saya and at the same time fulfilling since nakakapagturo kami especially for us engineers dahil may ganitong activity kung saan naibabahagi namin ang aming kaalaman,” said DMCI Homes volunteer Ralph Macalino.

Reanna Teodosio, Executive Director of Angat Kabataan Valenzuela, said the activity was a success largely due to the support of DMCI Homes volunteers.

Isang malaking pasasalamat sa DMCI Homes dahil hindi namin maisasakatuparan ang proyektong ito kung wala ang tulong ng mga volunteer,” Teodosio said.

Angat Kabataan Valenzuela, a youth-driven organization focused on community empowerment, envisions a society uplifted by collective action. Partnering with organizations like DMCI Homes amplifies their mission to support underserved sectors, particularly the youth.

The EdukBahagian initiative underscores the transformative impact of volunteerism and the vital role of private organizations in addressing educational disparities.

This collaborative effort serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when communities and the private sector unite for a common cause.
