In its continuous effort to improve the aesthetics, quality and cost-efficiency of its residential condominium developments, DMCI Homes has unveiled its newest design feature which provides residents a platform to appreciate the cityscape literally on the edge of a high-rise structure.
Dubbed as “extended sky lounge,” the design innovation is a variation of DMCI Homes’ roof deck function area called “sky lounge,” extending beyond the edge of the structure reminiscent of the Marina Bay Sands’ Skypark in Singapore and Al Muntaha Restaurant in Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
“Inspired by our very own Lumiventt® Design Technology, we were looking for something new, something that would offer a ‘wow’ factor for a new building feature,” Senior Architect Francis Villagonzalo said in reference to DMCI Homes’ pioneering design innovation that maximizes natural light and ventilation in the building and all unit spaces within through several three-storey high Sky Patios.
“We came up with the idea of an extended sky lounge at the roof-deck which creates an impression of a ‘floating effect’ while one is admiring the city views,” he added.
First to use the design feature is Brio Tower in Guadalupe Viejo, Makati whose construction drawing details were done by Senior Architect Analee Choco and her team at DMCI Homes’ Design and Engineering Department.
The design feature will also be applied in the Lavender building of DMCI Homes’ Calathea Place development in Dr. A. Santos Ave. Parañaque City.
DMCI Homes Vice President for Design and Engineering Adrian Calimbas said the design feature is a product of the company’s “3kn365” program which calls for each architect and engineer to come up with no less than 24 ideas throughout the year.
“Some of these ideas are now in operation like the extended sky lounge in Brio Tower. We also have implemented the dual core passenger elevators in our upcoming projects like Kai Garden Residences for the easy mobility of residents,” Calimbas said.
“Our innovations come in various forms. Some are visible to the customer, while others are integrated to the structure to make the building function better,” the executive added.
Last year, the country’s first Quadruple A developer also started adopting the Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to further speed up construction timeline and uphold the company’s thrust of providing excellence and quality homes at best value.
BIM, which is currently being used by most first-world countries, is a process of creating information models containing both graphical and non-graphical information in a shared digital workspace containing a facility’s specifications, quantities, and program.
