Quadruple A developer DMCI Homes recently turned over donations raised from a side event of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration to Bahay Aruga in Paco, Manila.
The activity, led by the Project Development Department, is part of the company’s “Kaakbay sa Pamayanan” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at creating meaningful change and fostering community development in areas hosting DMCI Homes condominium projects.
Bahay Aruga was chosen as the beneficiary of the “DMCI Homes Carnival” event, held recently at the DMCI Homes Corporate Center in Makati City. This organization serves as a sanctuary for 25 brave kids who are fighting cancer, providing them care and support.
The donations came from generous contributions by DMCI Homes employees, money from games and stalls at the event, and sales of beautiful paintings made by the children.
This effort was aimed at helping Bahay Aruga continue its work and support the children and their families.
Jean Bernardo, a board member of Bahay Aruga, expressed her gratitude to DMCI Homes for their donations and long-standing support.
"There are many challenges, emotionally, physically, spiritually, but we survive because of people like you with kind hearts who continuously support and love our foundation," she said in Filipino.
"It's heartwarming that for the past 10 years, you have been there to help us survive and sustain our daily challenges. We are deeply thankful and overwhelmed by your support and love. Without you, we might not be here today continuing to help more people in need," she added.
Larry Buendia, the father of a child with osteogenesis imperfecta, also shared his gratitude, highlighting the importance of Bahay Aruga's support.
"Bahay Aruga has been a huge help because without it, we might have had to live on the streets or in the bus terminal. We really need organizations like yours, DMCI (Homes), to keep supporting Bahay Aruga so they can continue their mission to help patients like my child," he said.
