DMCI Homes leads 3rd Estero Cleanup

June 2, 2015

For three years now, resort-inspired community developer DMCI Homes has lived up to its promise of rehabilitating its adopted creeks in Quezon City.

The Adopt-An-Estero project—the only project by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to receive support from a property developer and the Rotary Club of Diliman Silangan (RCDS)—witnessed another cleanup last May 23, Saturday. It has been the third cleanup since DMCI Homes endeavored to aid DENR in the rehabilitation of polluted waterways.

More than 90 volunteers comprised of DMCI Homes employees, together with DENR, MMDA, RCDS and Boy Scouts of the Philippines representatives, joined in the collection and removal of garbage that filled the stretch of the 1.3 kilometer creek in Barangay Bahay Toro and Barangay Culiat. Armed with rubber gloves and boots and with garbage bags provided by DMCI Homes, the volunteers braved the summer heat in full support of Adopt-An-Estero.

In their memorandum of agreement, DMCI Homes has committed to provide material and manpower support.

Meanwhile, RCDS, in its mission to preserve Quezon City’s 560 hectares of watershed consisting of 20 kilometer-long waterways, has prodded DMCI Homes along with other 9 companies to tie-up with DENR. DMCI Homes adopted the Pasong Tamo creek and agreed to its yearly clean-up.

The Pasong Tamo creek passes through Stellar Place, a two-tower DMCI Homes community in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
