DMCI Homes' good neighbor policy addresses the concerns of the community where the developer's project is located. This time, the country's leader in resort-inspired communities is facilitating the renovation of the College of Accountancy and Finance Faculty Room in Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Manila. The 120 sqm Faculty Room serves as home for the Accountancy Department's faculty during school days. Aside from the faculty room, DMCI Homes also installed a networking facility to help the faculty gain access to the internet and file sharing. A total of ten (10) comfort rooms were being renovated, six (6) of these are located at the 5th Floor of the Main Building where the College of Accountancy is housed, two (2) cubicles at the PUP Gymnasium and two (2) located near the College of Accountancy and Finance Faculty Room.
The renovation project was started October 2013, and minor rectifications are still underway. Prof. Ligaya Montalbo-Espino, Former Chairperson for Higher Accounting, facilitated the processing of permits and documentation, making the renovation process an easy task for the construction team.
Prof. Gloria A. Rante, PUP - Manila, Chairperson for Higher Accounting, is grateful to the developer after the delivery of the renovated faculty room. "To the people who initiated the project, thank you very much. To the people who worked on this, they were very courteous. We did not expect the executives of DMCI Homes to be here during the blessing of the project, but they were present. Thank you."
The renovation project in PUP-Manila, Mabini Campus, forms part of Kaakbay sa Edukasyon efforts, DMCI Homes' corporate social responsibility program. Kaakbay streamlines the company's efforts into four categories: "Kaakbay sa Kalusugan," which pertains to projects about health and well-being; "Kaakbay sa Kalikasan," for projects about environmental protection and sustainable eco-development; "Kaakbay sa Pamayanan," for projects like housing which addresses issues on social welfare and community development; and "Kaakbay sa Edukasyon," whose goal is to enhance learning and education.
