Employees of Quadruple A developer DMCI Homes recently took time off from their busy schedule to perform before the child residents of the CRIBS Foundation, Inc. shelter in Antipolo City.

The employees, who are members of DMCI Homes corporate chorale “Voices of Home,” sang for the 28 kids of the foundation's "New Beginnings” Program, which is a facility for young female survivors of sexual abuse, aged 7-17 years old.

Aside from heartwarming songs, numerous games were also prepared by the employees to the delight of the children who likewise gamely showcased their talents through several song and dance presentations.

The employees then capped off the activity last Aug. 4 with a simple lunch and turnover of donations. The donated items consisting of boxes of food supplies, clothing, hygiene products, books and school materials were accumulated during a month-long company-wide drive organized by DMCI Homes.

Josephine Ordaniel, teacher and activities coordinator of CRIBS Foundation, Inc., thanked the DMCI Homes employees for sharing a morning of fun and laughter with the children of the New Beginnings Program despite their busy schedule.

"The activity is very simple yet very interactive. The volunteers and the girls met halfway to have fun. Parang the girls had their ates and kuyas for a day," Ordaniel said.

"That's why we are very thankful. Thank you so much for supporting our advocacy. Your help really matters to us. Thank you for being with us in making a difference in the lives of the children here in CRIBS Foundation," she told the employees of DMCI Homes.

Inspired by the experience, DMCI Homes employees, vowed to do more to help CRIBS Foundation, Inc. give a safe and loving home environment for each child resident.

"Seeing those eyes of the children na very hopeful, makes me want to commit and go beyond to share what I have and to volunteer more and to help those kids na nangangailangan talaga," DMCI Homes employee Ren Jayag shared.

Singing for the children of CRIBS Foundation, Inc. was not just rewarding but therapeutic as well added another employee volunteer, Lou Brigette Ramos.

"Seeing their smiles, playing with them and experiencing their hugs, is very therapeutic. This is indeed one for the books. It only proves that DMCI Homes is not just committed to build homes but also to help build lives," she beamed.

As part of its "Kaakbay” corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, DMCI Homes in 2017 also donated construction and finishing materials for the new CRIBS Foundation, Inc. shelter in Antipolo City which also houses the "Receiving Home" facility for the abandoned, neglected and surrendered infants aged 0-3 years old.

Kaakbay is a DMCI Homes CSR initiative which aims to support advocacies beneficial to the Filipino society.
