Residents of DMCI Homes’ Zinnia Towers development recently held a back-to-school pencil drive in San Antonio Elementary School in their bid to reach out to neighboring communities in Barangay Katipunan, Quezon City.

Organized by Zinnia Towers’ Property Management Office (PMO) and Community Development Council, the school drive dubbed as “Lapis Kitang Mahal,” aimed to benefit children in need of school supplies for the new school year.

The residents of DMCI Homes’ two-tower resort-inspired development along EDSA in Quezon City also organized a kiddie party as part of the activity to perk up the beneficiaries.

“Since we belong to Barangay Katipunan, District 1, Quezon City, we decided to hold our project here in San Antonio Elementary School because it is the nearest school to the Zinnia Towers community,” explained Virgie Indangan, one of the unit owners who organized the activity.

“It’s sharing the love and blessing actually. We’ve been blessed so for us it’s just right and proper to share our blessings to our community,” added another one of the organizers, unit owner Diwa Gacosta.

Indangan and Gacosta, who are both part of Zinnia Towers’ Community Development Council, said they have been holding donation drives in their hope to help the underprivileged and at the same time build a harmonious relationship among residents of the new condo community.

In February this year, Indangan said they also held a donation drive among residents for the benefit of underprivileged children in Zinnia Towers’ neighboring communities.

“We collect food donations, used clothes, and toys and distribute them to the less privileged children,” Indangan said.

Gacosta said they consider such activities as a vital part of the learning process of a growing condominium community.

“It’s a new condo community so all of us are learning still. Zinnia Towers is pretty new. 2016 lang siya eh. Kaya we’re still at an infancy stage in terms of building it up that’s why I think this is a good drive for us to have,” Gacosta said.

“It’s also building relationships among ourselves not only within Zinnia Towers but also with surrounding communities. So it feels good to be part of a bigger community,” she beamed.
