LANDBANK celebrated its 52nd anniversary recently with the launch of a new tagline, "We help you grow," at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel. During the event, the government financial institution also gave recognition to its clients and partners who had been supportive of its programs that promote countryside development while helping its clients and publics grow.
Gilda E. Pico, President and Chief Executive Officer of LANDBANK, led the conferment of awards together with Teresita J. Herbosa, Chairperson of the Securities & Exchange Commission, who was also the Keynote Speaker. Cash prizes and trophies of recognition were given away to the winners of the three major awards categories namely, Gawad Entrepreneur, Gawad KAAGAPAY and Gawad CFI.
LANDBANK has been recognizing outstanding corporations and SMEs who have been helping significantly in the development of the communities where they operate, thereby revitalizing the rural economy at large," Pico said in her welcome speech. "Thank you, dear partners, for all your support. May you continue to succeed, and help others grow."
One of that given recognition was DMCI Homes, one the country's leading developer of quality-crafted residential projects that has since carved its own niche in the industry by offering developments that fulfill the needs and aspirations of young Filipino families.
During the awarding ceremony, DMCI Homes emerged as the lone real estate firm to have been conferred the Gawad KAAGAPAY award. They join sister-company Maynilad Water Services Inc. (1st runner-up) and Globe Telecom Inc. (grand winner) as recipients of the award among non-agri based companies.
The Gawad KAAGAPAY (Korporasyon na KAagapay sa Ating GAnap na tagumPAY)is an award that is usually given to bank-assisted large corporations who have contributed to LANDBANK's support to priority sectors like SMEs as well as farmers and fisherfolks.
Edward John Reyes, Senior Vice President for Corporate Banking Group of LANDBANK, says that the bank had seen the quality of the projects of DMCI Homes, which it offers to Filipinos at a very friendly rate.
During the process of selecting recipients for the Gawad KAAGAPAY award, a panel of experts and judges from LANDBANK went around the country and performed stringent measures of validation to determine this year's winners.
"There were two parts used in the screening process," explained Vilma Calderon, Vice President for Corporate Banking II of LANDBANK. "First was quantitative, and the other, qualitative. As far as quantitative is concerned, DMCI Homes had been evaluated using performance parameters based on the financial ratio and Corporate Social Responsibility as well as their relationship with the bank. The qualitative aspect is more about the story behind -- how their operations improved and how it was able to help their clients grow."
"We are truly honored to have been considered for this award," beamed Evangeline Atchioco, Vice President for Finance of DMCI Homes. "Our company's number one goal has always been to provide quality housing to start up Filipino families, one that allows them to realize all their aspirations in life -- and one that they can also easily afford."
In a span of a little over a decade, DMCI Homes have built the most comfortable, resort-type communities for urban dwellers, and continues to do so. Whether they are situated in Quezon City, Taguig City, Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, or Paranaque City, each of these DMCI Homes developments have been built with the Filipino families' needs in mind.
