Life is all about balance.
Living in DMCI Homes’ One Castilla Place community for the past two years has helped young professional Chris make this important realization.
A self-confessed geek in his younger years, the 36-year-old bachelor shared that growing up, all he cared for was his love for computers.
“Noong nag-aaral ako, tingin ko ang future, computers. Medyo tumama naman ako, kaunti. Kaya nga medyo introvert ako, laging nakaharap sa computer. Lahat ng friends ko ‘virtual,’” Chris chuckled.
But as he went to college and later on landed a job as programmer in an IT firm, Chris learned to better appreciate the simple joys that life has to offer.
His attitude towards life all the more changed when he was asked to be a part of the Community Development Council of DMCI Homes’ One Castilla Place project when he moved into the resort-inspired condo community in February 2015.
“Before kasi never akong nag-absent sa work. But I realized I’m not getting any younger. And I think to enjoy the zest of life you have to find the balance between work and family and also friends,” Chris pointed out.
“So I thought being part of the Community Development Council is one avenue for me to give back to the community. ‘Yung ma-serve ko yung time ko kasi sinu-sino pa ba ang magtutulungan kung hindi kaming magkakapit-bahay lang,” he stressed.
As one who prefers vertical living over a traditional house and lot, Chris had lived in numerous condo developments before he purchased a three-bedroom unit in the condo community in Barangay Valencia, Quezon City.
Initially attracted by the development’s excellent proximity to his workplace, Chris would later find out what separates DMCI Homes communities from the residential projects of other developers.
As head of the Events Community of the Community Development Council of the single-tower development, Chris would lead his fellow residents to a second runner up finish in the 2017 DMCI Homes Inter-condo Christmas Décor Competition dubbed as “Colors of the Holidays.”
“Like in every condo community, mayroong ups and downs pero ang importante, lahat happy, lahat bati, lahat masaya doon sa outcome. Nabiyayaan kami ng prize even if it’s our first time to join the contest,” he beamed.
“But what is more important at the end of the day is that nakita ko na ang daming budding relationships, friendships... Kumbaga doon nagkakilala ang mga residente. Me personally, ang dami ko ring nakilala. So naging buo yung community,” he continued.
What was once a geek who only cared about computers, had finally found his calling – that is to help build the One Castilla Place community.
“That’s how you live life. Hindi mo lang iisipin ang sarili. Iisipin mo rin yung mga tao sa paligid mo. And I think this is a great avenue. Having this condo na magkaroon ka ng avenue na mai-express mo na, ‘Let’s be good friends. Let’s be good neighbors,’” he enthused.
And for that, he is thankful to DMCI Homes for building communities out of its residential projects.
“Ang DMCI Homes lang talaga yung nag-fo-focus sa family-oriented building and to be honest I think I can grow old with my purchase here. I can grow old with my home here,” said Chris who has also invested on a two-bedroom unit in the developer’s Illumina Residences Manila project in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
“Dito na ako tatanda. So that’s also the reason of my being active in the community kasi kapag maganda yung community at doon ka tumanda parang ang sarap ng feeling na tinulungan mong gumanda yung community,” he exclaimed.
