In its bid to boost the community’s anti-dengue and flood-prevention measures at the height of the rainy season, DMCI Homes, the country’s first Quadruple A developer, recently conducted a clean-up activity in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City.
Armed with brooms and dust pans, over 25 volunteer employees and unit owners last August 4 beefed up the village’s clean and green committee for the clean-up drive along streets surrounding the Guadalupe Viejo Barangay Hall.
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa ginawa natin na clean-up drive dahil malaki ang naiaambag nito sa komunidad ng Guadalupe Viejo. Although we are doing the clean-up drive weekly on our own, mas nadadagdagan ang mga lugar na nalilinis kapag marami tayong katulong,” Guadalupe Viejo Barangay Chairman Dennis Almario said.
“Unang-una ay panahon ng tag-ulan na kung saan mayroon tayong mga kaso ng dengue. Nagpapasalamat kami sa DMCI Homes na aming kaakbay sa aming paniniwala na ang malinis na kapaligiran ay malayo sa karamdaman,” he added.
Almario also thanked the leading
developer of resort-inspired condominium communities for donating a floater,
cleaning poles and trash stands to help the barangay in de-clogging the nearby
Balisampan creek and prevent flooding in the area.
DMCI Homes Corporate Communications Manager Jhops Cruz said employees and unit owners were glad to be of help to the residents of Guadalupe Viejo especially since the community hosts Brio Tower which is a proud development of DMCI Homes.
“As host to our Brio Tower development, we also consider ourselves as part of the Barangay Guadalupe Viejo community. As such, we hope we could do our part in taking care of the community for the well-being of the residents,” Cruz said.
Volunteer employees and unit owners said they were happy to take part in the activity knowing that it would contribute to the clean and green campaign of the community.
“We were able to clean up a few streets
and able to donate items para mas maging malinis yung surroundings natin. So
I’m very happy to be a part of this activity,” said DMCI Homes Project Development
Officer Royce Opinion.
“Hindi ako nagdadalawang-isip sumali kasi ang sarap sa pakiramdam kung ako’y nakakatulong sa kapwa ko kahit sa maliit na bagay katulad ng pagwawalis sa mga kalsada,” added Siena Park Residences unit owner Perry Araullo, a regular volunteer in DMCI Homes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
In July last year, DMCI Homes also provided free health consultation, medicines and wheelchairs to underprivileged families in the Guadalupe Viejo community with the support of volunteers and partner organizations.
This year’s clean-up drive is part of DMCI Homes’ “Kaakbay ng Pamayanan” and “Kaakbay ng Kalikasan” CSR initiatives which pertain respectively to issues on social welfare and community development and projects about environmental protection and sustainable eco-development.
“Kaakbay ng Pamayanan” and
“Kaakbay ng Kalikasan” are under the umbrella CSR program “Kaakbay” which aims
to foster good relations with the communities where DMCI Homes operates and
bring forth social activities beneficial to the Filipino society.
