Seeing another opportunity to support the youth, DMCI Homes provides the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Quezon City Council with additional facilities for their scouting events. Last October 3, 2014, DMCI Homes hands over camping tents to the BSP.
Training the youth to become responsible leaders of the country, the Boys Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Quezon City Council consistently asks for sponsors from different organizations and corporations for their numerous events and activities monthly and annually. One of their chosen sponsors was DMCI Homes, who willingly approved to grant camping tents to the organization.
Lining up the BSP calendar this year are minor and major events that will help hone the young scouts’ leadership skills, values and teamwork. One of the organization’s events was the Drum & Lyre competition, held last October 3, 2015, participated by schools and scouts in Quezon City. All geared up in their uniforms, the scouts assisted to make the event a huge success.
Council Scout Executive of Quezon City Council Dr. Antonio Merino, showed appreciation to DMCI Homes saying, “I hope it will be a continuous project with QC Council & Rotary Club of Diliman Silangan. To the organizer of DMCI Homes, in behalf of Hon. Herbert Bautista & Hon. Joy Belmonte, thank you for everything you have done for us. God bless you.â€
The given camping tents arrived just in time for another major event for the BSP. The 16th National Jamboree is an annual event which will push through this month in Tagum City, Davao. According to Merino, the tents will be a great help for scouts coming from the public schools who will be joining the National Jamboree event camp.
The giving of the camping tents also served as a small gift to BSP in exchange for their support to DMCI Homes’ projects like the Estero Clean-Up, and other CSR-related events.
Other attendees who graced the event are Dan Espinosa, former District Governor from Rotary International District, Dwight Ramos, present District Governor from Rotary International District, Eduardo T. Rocel, former Assistant Scout Executive, Steve Arpon, Rotary Club of Diliman Silangan, Roberto Sheen, DENR Regional Director of Region 5 and Rodrigo Berardo, Charter President & Founder of Rotary Club of Diliman Silangan.
The turnover of the camping tents took place at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on October 3, 2015.
