Kindness, gratitude shine bright in DMCI Homes communities

The current health crisis may be keeping people apart because of enforced social distancing but it is also bringing society together through acts of kindness that have been truly inspiring. 

Residents of DMCI Homes condominium projects in particular have been finding unique ways to show love, recognition, and compassion to those who really need help and support in these trying situations.

Not only do residents show to their community frontliners and neighbor establishments how they are appreciated and valued for keeping the community clean and safe, they are also making sure that they are provided with all the necessary elements to protect them against the coronavirus.

Gestures of support

In Tivoli Garden Residences in Mandaluyong City, residents last March 30 started a habit of coming out of their balconies every 6 p. m. to clap and cheer for their Property Management Office (PMO) staff,   housekeeping, landscaping, and security personnel. 

"They are our community heroes, so to say. It's our way of saying thank you for what they do for us especially at this trying time," said unit owner Richard Dumlao. 

Residents of La Verti Residences in Pasay City extended this show of gratitude not only to their own community frontliners but also to their neighbor medical workers in Adventist Medical Center Manila (AMCM) located just across their home. 

AMCM Nursing Supervisor Dorcas Saycon, who was moved to tears by the show of support, thanked the condominium residents for their heartwarming gesture. 

“First time in my 30 years (of service) na na-feel ko how people appreciate our work. Nasasabi siyempre ng mga pasyente, ‘thank you’ pero iba po talaga ang dating n’ung sa La Verti kaya paglabas ko pa lang po noon ay hindi ko na napigilang umiyak,” Saycon said in an interview with GMA7 television.

Aside from boosting their morale, DMCI Homes condo communities through their respective Community Development Councils and PMOs also made sure that the everyday needs of their own frontliners are met amid limited mobility due to the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine. 

Communities like Siena Park Residences in Parañaque City saw to it that the food, accommodation, and essential needs of their PMO staff and housekeeping and security personnel are taken care of during quarantine. 

Residents of Sorrel Residences, Rosewood Pointe, Ohana Place, Mayfield Park Residences, Magnolia Place, Mirea Residences, Maple Place, Lumiere Residences, Asteria Residences, Ivory Wood

Residents of Sorrel Residences, Rosewood Pointe, Ohana Place, Mayfield Park Residences, Magnolia Place, Mirea Residences, Maple Place, Lumiere Residences, Asteria Residences, Ivory Wood, Flair Towers, and Cedar Crest among others donated groceries, food, toiletries, face masks and vitamin supplements to support the needs of their frontline workers. 

Some residents of communities like Zinnia Towers, Cypress Towers, Royal Palm Residences, and Tivoli Garden Residences also cooked meals and snacks to help the staff meet their needs. 

“Hindi niyo alam kung gaano kami kasaya at ka-overwhelmed sa suportang natatanggap namin from sa higaan, sa food namin, everyday supplies, talagang binigay niyo po lahat,” said Blossom Gay Oligario, a staff member of Siena Park Residences’ PMO in thanking the residents.

Looking out for neighbors

Other communities like The Birchwood in Acacia Estates, Taguig City on the other hand managed to put smiles on the faces of the grocery staff of the nearby Savemore Market by providing them meals and refreshments last April 8, 2020.

Spearheaded by The Birchwood's Liturgical Committee, they were able to raise funds for the food of the supermarket staff. The Liturgical Committee's kid ministry, BLC Kids, also wrote endearing notes to the delight of the staff. 

Meanwhile, residents from Viera Residences in Quezon City showed their appreciation of the hard work and dedication of their barangay frontliners by donating boxes of hygiene kits last April 13, 2020.

Indeed, all these acts of kindness, whether grand or small, show how the health crisis is all the more bringing people together towards a common goal. 

At a time when there is so much uncertainty, these stories of kindness and gratitude offer reassurance that tomorrow will bring better times to everybody.
