Pursuing something you enjoy doing is always a great way of escaping challenging circumstances and situations.
For young professional Chris Tacata, this is by way of spending time nurturing his creative side like writing, doing vlogs, and learning more about photo and video editing.
“I’m spending most of my down time honing my cinematography and video editing skills,” said Chris who loves documenting his adventures as a triathlete in his “Pinoy Triathlete” YouTube channel.
Chris said working from home while the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) is in effect gives him the time and opportunity to do activities he is passionate about while being productive in his work at the same time.
To get his creative juices flowing, the 35-year-old resident of DMCI Homes’ Flair Towers community in Mandaluyong City set up a work station at the balcony where he has a panoramic view of Metro Manila’s cityscape.
“I am quite occupied the whole day but I’m being more focused and productive. I usually wake up before 6 a. m. to do my workout and have my breakfast. I start doing company tasks around 9 a. m. until 6 p. m.,“ shared Chris who works for a multinational IT firm at the Bonifacio Global City.
“Its part of my daily routine also to watch and enjoy the sunset and take some pictures and time-lapse videos. During my free time, I watch YouTube tutorials, edit or upload photos and videos, and play guitar,” he continued.
While he misses his workplace, his workmates, and his triathlon races during summer, Chris understands that he needs to stay home to help curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
“I miss swimming especially now that it’s summer which is the start of the race season. I should be spending more time now in the lap pool,” Chris related.
“But then, we have to do our part in helping flatten the curve by staying home so the sacrifices of our frontliners especially our doctors and nurses will not go to waste,” he added.
In the meantime, Chris takes his time learning new skills and pursuing his other passions.
“I was also able to write two poems already. Hopefully I can also learn some Tofu recipe before the ECQ ends,” Chris said, chuckling.
