La Verti Residences and Sheridan Towers ruled this year's DMCI Homes Inter-Area Basketball Tournament which pits different residential condominium communities of the country's first Quadruple A developer.
Relying on their fearsome full-court trapping defense, La Verti Residences routed Zinnia Towers 72-53 in the finals of the Juniors Division held at the DMCI Homes Corporate Center multi-purpose gym in Makati City last June 9.
La Verti Residences was led by Finals Most Valuable Player Prince Khan who scored a game high 29 points along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 7 steals.
“It feels good because we really worked hard in practice for this. And we got what we trained for. So we’re very happy,” said the 17-year-old shooting guard who is an upcoming high school basketball talent in the NCAA.
Sheridan Towers, meanwhile, bagged the
Seniors Division title behind the game-winning tip-in of Goodyield Chu in
overtime of the championship game to beat Ohana Place, 115-114.
Finals MVP John Mathew Bravo put on another monstrous performance for the condo community in the boundary of Mandaluyong and Pasig City to help his team stood toe-to-toe with the gritty Ohana Place squad in regulation.
The 18-year-old Bravo, who plays the forward position for Sheridan Towers, finished with 42 points and 12 rebounds.
The victory of La Verti Residences and Sheridan Towers meant double celebration for Area 5 which represents DMCI Homes communities in Manila and Mandaluyong area in the basketball competition.
The annual tournament is divided among five areas representing more than 40 condominium communities. These are Area 1 for communities in the north; Area 2 for Acacia Estates, DMCI Homes' township development in Taguig City; Area 3 for residences in the south; Area 5; and Area 6 for Pasig.
A qualifying tournament
among the different DMCI Homes communities was held earlier this year to
determine the representatives of the five areas in the juniors and seniors'
divisions.
