Carpooling advocate champions DMCI Homes’ RideShare Program

September 20, 2024

Arnold, a former advocate of a ridesharing campaign in the early 2000s, now champions DMCI Homes’ RideShare in his Prisma Residences community in Pasig Boulevard, Pasig City.

Arnold Romero, a resident of DMCI Homes’ Prisma Residences in Pasig City, likes to ride his bike to work in the same city.

A consultant for an international development agency, Arnold has always looked for ways to live a soft lifestyle. But while biking is his preferred mode of transportation, the inclement weather in the country does not always make it conducive.

Fortunately, when he moved to Prisma Residences, one offer from DMCI Homes immediately caught his eye: the RideShare Carpool Program, which is an app-based carpool program currently offered by DMCI Homes in select condo communities.

The service, which can be accessed through the DMCI Communities Mobile App, maintains multiple active routes within key areas in Metro Manila, connecting DMCI Homes condos to important locations such as educational institutions, central business districts, and office locations.

Arnold, who was once part of a ride-sharing campaign back in the early 2000s immediately got on board.

“I'm actively also promoting ridesharing to beat traffic—because each car owner is traffic and we should take every chance not to be part of the traffic situation,” Arnold says, adding that sometimes he also uses RideShare to go to nearby districts to meet with friends.

Since using the app, he finds three factors that makes him love it: “One is predictability. It means that my travel can be scheduled ahead, and there's no room for delays because RideShare is on the dot. Two is convenience, because you don't have to wait for hours. It doesn't make me wait or line up: It's always there when you need it. And number three is the ecological footprint that we leave. We minimize our contribution to air pollution and congestion when we don’t take cars around.”

The price is also an advantage, compared to other apps, says Arnold. RideShare prices are fixed and are not dependent on rush hour, weather, or time of the day. This makes commuting from one place to the next less expensive. Plus, the flat rate makes it easier for residents to budget their transportation expenses.

“I recommend other residents to avail of the ride-sharing services of Prisma Residences,” Arnold concludes. “It will make your travel easier, especially if you are regularly using the transportation for work, and you can save on fuel expenses and parking expenses, compared to if you bring a car or if you travel with commercial transport services. Prisma Residences’ ridesharing is cheaper and more convenient.”

Arnold, loves using DMCI Homes’ RideShare for three key reasons: its predictability, convenience, and the reduced ecological footprint it promotes.

Arnold says that if only other developers would provide this kind of service to their residents, it would be a much cleaner city—one that is good for everyone’s well-being.

“Imagine how many people live in a high-rise condo, and how many vehicles are added on the road. So, to reduce the impact of the congestion, and to minimize the use of private transportation, let’s promote the use of RideShare.”

Aside from Prisma Residences, other DMCI Homes communities serviced by RideShare include the Acacia Estates in Taguig, Lumiere Residences, Sheridan Towers, and Brixton Place in Pasig.

RideShare recently won a Gold Award for Innovation in Transportation and Logistics from the 2024 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, an international award-giving body that recognizes business innovations across the region.

Experts also see DMCI Homes’ RideShare as a potential model for other condo developments. Dr. Jose Regin Regidor of the UP National Center for Transportation Studies notes that condo carpooling initiatives, like RideShare, could play a significant role in alleviating traffic issues across Metro Manila, offering a sustainable transportation solution for urban living.
