Quadruple A developer DMCI Homes recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a thanksgiving mass at the Church of the Holy Sacrifice in UP Diliman, Quezon City.
Commonly known as the UP Chapel, the historic structure is one of the iconic landmarks built by DMCI Group founder, Engr. David M. Consunji.
The event, attended by company executives including DMCI Group Chairman Isidro Consunji, DMCI Homes Treasurer Edwina Consunji Laperal, and President Alfredo Austria, also marked the unveiling of landscaping enhancement plans for the UP Chapel grounds.
The landscaping project is a joint effort between DMCI Homes and its sister company, Semirara Mining and Power Corporation.
Spearheaded by DMCI Homes’ award-winning Landscape Team, this initiative aims to enrich the UP Chapel’s architectural beauty while creating a more serene and inviting space for visitors and the university community. Work began in May 2024, with full completion expected by the second quarter of 2025.
The landscape enhancement builds upon DMCI Homes’ earlier contribution to the UP Chapel’s preservation. In 2021, the company and its partners completed a major renovation of the structure, ensuring its longevity and maintaining its cultural and historical significance.
“We chose the UP Chapel as venue for our 25th anniversary celebration as it holds a special place in the hearts of the people from DMCI Homes and the entire DMCI Group. In a way, the chapel has become a symbol of what we can do as a team, what's important to us, and what we aspire to become,” Austria said.
Designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin, the UP Chapel holds the distinction of being the Philippines’ first circular chapel and the first to feature a thin-shell concrete dome, a feat of engineering by Engr. Alfredo L. Juinio. It is also the only structure in the country to showcase works by five National Artists: Leandro Locsin (Architecture), Napoleon Abueva (Sculpture), Arturo Luz (Visual Arts), Vicente Manansala (Painting), and Ang Kiukok (Visual Arts).
Celebrating Interdependence
As part of the year-long celebration, DMCI Homes embraced the theme of “Interdependence,” underscoring the importance of collaboration, community, and shared progress.
Through a series of engaging and meaningful activities, the company brought employees, partners, and homeowners together, reflecting its commitment to fostering strong partnerships and creating a positive social impact.
These include the “DMCI Homes Carnival,” “Wellness Day,” “SpookFlix Halloween Party,” and the “Kaakbay Fun Run,” which raised funds for various beneficiaries such as Bahay Aruga and Project SpeedMoms Livelihood
The company also organized medical missions in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City, providing healthcare support to residents near the DMCI Homes Concrete Services’ Westbank Batching Plant.
A Year of Milestones
DMCI Homes’ 25th year in the industry was marked by significant achievements as the company celebrated major milestones throughout 2024.
